- Not cold yet, boys and girls. Had a look at Monday’s forecast? I’ll believe the weekend snow talk when I see it.
- Our gas logs have worked flawlessly for ten years, and besides the fact that they’re tremendously oversized for the room and can only be used for an hour or two at a time, we’ve had no complaints. Now they’re shutting off, ten to fifteen minutes in. I think I’ve diagnosed a bad thermocouple. This looks like a good page. Wish me luck.
- Beyoncé just bought Jay-Z a $2 million Bugatti for his birthday. Wonder if he’ll make it his daily driver?
- Colin Cowherd said this morning on ESPN Radio that he knows who the new Florida coach is; that it’s a big name; and that it’s a surprise. He offered the acronym STAB as a hint. My guess is Saban’s Teacher At Browns, and the next Gators coach is Bill Belichick. I’m aware of no motivation for him to leave the NFL, but it fits the acronym and the criteria.
- I’m going to try Hoppin’ John with the boys for dinner. Lea doesn’t like black-eyed peas, but she goes to stained glass on Thursday night. That means pizza some of the time, but tonight it’s going to mean spicy, but still reasonably healthy.
- If you’ve never considered a low-dose aspirin regimen, it may be time.
- I’ve given some thought to purging emoticons from my output. I never use them in posts, but I do in comments, and I text them way too much. I think they’re a crutch for imprecise communication, a lot of times. My thinking goes “if you’re worried about that being misinterpreted, think some more about what you’re saying, or say something else entirely.”

I’m going to disagree with you on the emoticons. They serve the function of facial expressions, such as the crooked eyebrow, in verbal exchange.
@@<– rolling my eyes at you
I posted earlier I think Florida is chomping at the bit for The one who eats grass.
‘seester, I’m with you. I just wonder if I can do without them. At least half the time I use them to indicate levity to my correspondent, and I wonder how often I’m writing lazily with them. I’m going to think about it.
If Les Miles goes to Gainesville, I’ll eat Florida Field with him.
Gas logs have had 6-10 reliable minutes in them before they go out. As I type they’re on minute 29, so it’s looking quite promising. Didn’t need a thermocouple; needed to clean the pilot assembly. A helpful, faceless web denizen showed me where the hole was. Woohoo!
ummm, we really like hoppin’ john. What did you think?
Jenny, it was ok. ‘seester told me I needed to fry up a little bacon and cook some chopped onion in the grease from that, and I skipped that part. But it was tasty enough.
