- All 33 Chilean miners are out, rescued from over two months spent nearly half a mile beneath the surface. Wow. How spectacular for them. What a wonderful perspective restorative for us. Want to tell me how rotten your day was again?
- The boys like these V8 Fusion drinks, which are clever delivery systems for a lot of carrot juice, mainly. They remind me of this nasty carrot jelly Mom made for Jenny and me when we were little. Jenny dropped her spread-bread outside and got grass all over it, and wouldn’t let Mom give her another one. Heh.
- Folks, the South Carolina loss was not a heartbreaker, amenable to an “if only” here and there. They were well-prepared, and lined up and beat us. As losses go, it’s not so bad. Still control our destiny in the SEC, and let’s hope we get another crack at them in Atlanta.
- Speaking of football on TV, what is Sonic thinking pulling those ads with the drive-through guys and the smacking sound off the air and replacing them with regular old fast food ads? I like the drive-through guys. Genuinely funny commercials are rare, and that shtick ore seems inexhaustible.
- The other day a (younger) colleague asked me to “do (her) a solid.” Then, a little later she said she expected to be “throwing ‘bows” at the free waffle promotion at the Waffle House. I had to Google both expressions. How nerdy. How old.
- Bobby Allison is a wonderful ambassador for motorsports, for Alabama, and for goodness in people in general. I’m pleased to see him voted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and I’m humbled by the generosity of spirit he has that enables him to be genuinely pleasant after all he’s been through. God bless and thank you, Bobby.
- Meet 18-year-old Khagendra Thapa Magar. He’s 26.4″ tall and weighs 13 lbs. Yup, that got him Guinness.

The South Carolina game is proof that in the SEC, if you don’t bring your A-game every week, someone will be glad to hand you your behind. The youth of our defense is showing, but they will only get better.
Notice that we’re griping over ONE loss in almost 2 years. What a great problem to have.
Jenny, exactly. Remember losing to Central Florida? to Northern Illinois? to UL-Monroe?
