- World views are funny things. Sometimes we’re not on different pages. Sometimes we’re on different planets in different solar systems in different galaxies.
- Both boys are having a good first week at school. Between the start of that year and the reintroduction of soccer practice into their schedules, they’re pretty tired at night.
- As I mentioned, I had a couple of Straight to Ale Monkeynauts last night. This is a 90th-percentile IPA for me, and a really fine effort from Huntsville’s newest brewery. I’m hopeful Straight to Ale avoids the intermittent quality problems that have plagued Olde Towne.
- The take-this-job-and-shove-it admiration flight attendant Steven Slater is receiving notwithstanding, this is an exceptionally poor climate during which to behave wildly and unpredictably on a commercial aircraft. He’s going to be very lucky if he avoids adding “convicted felon” to his resume.
- Trying to eyeball a ‘Bama game trip for the boys this fall. Georgia State, maybe? Wow, it’s such a commitment and a very long day, though.
- We’re down to three weeks from tonight!
- I’m playing with another site idea. I still like a lot of the writing I did at Cowl Shake, but it ultimately died on the vine because it wasn’t deep enough to sustain itself. I’m trying to avoid that mistake this time out. Stay tuned.

Don’t worry about the kooky flight attendant. I’m sure he’ll get a reality TV show that lasts at least a month, not to mention all of the invitations to talk shows.
He’s no hero, but you have to admit he quit in royal style. Grabbing a beer before hitting the slide was a nice touch. Not many of us can pull of that much drama and flamboyance.

God, it must be nice to king of the hill. Three weeks. Even if we have a 7-5 season I’m just happy it’s finally arriving! I’ll be watching the Thursday night games – don’t care who’s playing…
Cheryl, I’m oddly reserved about it. I can’t remember whether I felt this way in 1993. It’s good. I’m excited about the season, just a bit more quietly so.
I think you’ll do better than 7-5. I think the ACC is the hardest conference to predict, but I think Dabo just might be the real deal.
