Thursday miscellanea #50

  • Remember, anthropogenic global warming is settled science.  If you question it, you’re as loony as a flat-earther.
  • I’ve never tasted Red Bull.  I smelled it once.
  • I am shocked! to hear that John Edwards just might be the father of his mistress’s child after all.
  • This is day eight of being nicotine free, as in no gum, no patch, no nothing.  It’s going all right.  It’s a day at a time problem, as many, many falls from grace have taught me.  Still, it feels more difficult to cheat now.
  • I don’t know what half of the shows in the top ten from last week even are—as in I read the title of the show and couldn’t tell you the first thing about it.
  • Remember the Pitch In! anti-littering campaign?  I’m pretty sure I was an insufferable little prick (more than usual, I mean) for a few weeks after getting a skull full of it in grade school.  I can remember my mother going to great lengths explaining to me why throwing an apple core out of the car window wasn’t littering.  I’m wondering if second grade is when Nathan is going to begin bringing home the (much more complex and sententious) environmental propaganda of today.
  • It is now scientifically possible to fabricate DNA evidence.  Have a nice day.

  1. I’m sure Edwards is thinking, “I should have had Teddy Kennedy drive that lady home…”

There’s television on? Mrs BD and I are on the last episode of Six Feet Under. I think Mad Men after this, but I know that I’ll be back in when Lost, 24, and The Amazing Race all start up again.

  2. Man, I keep wanting to blog more about Edwards, but as it’s all just National Enquirer-reported right now, I’ll wait. The latest is that he wants to move young Rielle and their love child into his neighborhood so he can be there for the kid growing up.

    What a guy.

Now, assuming Mrs. BD hadn’t tossed your philandering ass into the street a year ago, how do you think she’d react to this plan of yours? I don’t think Lea would, uh, much care for it.

  3. Interesting note, I just finished reading _The Good Life_ by Jay McInerney (not so great, but part of it takes place in my old hometown). Come to find out that Jay used to date Rielle, based a character in one of his other novels on her, and said character got used in other stories by Bret Easton Ellis. Girl gets around. Think Michael J. Fox will play Edwards in _Bright Lights, Big….hmm so many things rhyme with City….
