I first brought it up ten months ago, and now it has happened. My last Usenet post was to the group hsv.general on December 24, and I am retired as of that date.
Usenet friends, I’ll be here at WmWms a good long while. Come and set a spell. I’d be delighted.

It is strange when the end of an era quietly arrives and fades away. I remember when usenet was an essential part of my morning.
It was the first thing besides email that I ever did on the Internet, and my illustrious posting career is more than 13 years long. Certainly not what it used to be, is it?
Nazi.
You miss it already, don’t you?
Heh.
Sure, there are parts I miss. This guy Corry I know is really funny and an advocate for liberty. I kind of think he’s going to eventually bring all of that to a blog, though.
Conversely, I miss the echolalia and the near-total dearth of genuine intellectual exploration like a red-hot poker up the nose.
Interesting… I retired from my blog about 4 years ago due to privacy concerns.
Hsv.general was fun for a while, but I only lurk there now. I got tired of being beaten about the head/shoulders over the most ridiculous things.
A fellow lurker and I took bets for a while over how easy it was/is for the most innocuous threads to dissolve into Nazi!-Liberal!-Fascist! flamewars.
