(Vague gameplay discussion; no other spoilers.)
Melanie told me over Vietnamese today that she believed there was a direct correlation between the release of Halo 3 and my posting frequency falling off.
Yeah, probably something to that.
I just finished it about 20 minutes ago. I proclaim it worthy. It’s a top-of-the-top-tier game, just as its two predecessors were. If you are a science fiction fan or video game fan and haven’t played the Halo games, make considerable haste. (And if you’re a science fiction fan and a video game fan and haven’t played the Halo games, I’m pretty sure you’re going to hell.)
I realize I haven’t shut up about it for a week, so I’ll keep this post short. (Hopefully I won’t get to babbling too much after I break into the bonus DVDs.) Two informed opinions:
- If you are an experienced Halo player, start on Heroic difficulty. Normal is too easy.
- I remain ambivalent about the new X-button-activated gameplay. Fortunately, the game seems to be written such that you can ignore it if you like. (I used it a couple of times, but I don’t think it was necessary.)
Bravo, Bungie. Y’all please stay busy.
