I'm getting a few questions consistently, both by email and in person. Here are some answers.
Get a life! Don't you have anything better to do?
I have a lovely life, and of course. With the possible exception of a person who may be pulling children from a burning school bus at this very moment, everyone always has something better they could be doing.
So what did PepsiCo change about Diet Mountain Dew?
They took the most consistently drinkable soda ever conceived and turned it into a cloyingly sweet, obscenely artificial abomination. See this page to learn how to tell the difference and to compare the ingredient lists.
Are you a shill for Coca-Cola/the Illuminati/the Trilateral Commission/the mob/...?
No. I'm a regular guy in his mid-30s who was roused to action when the greatest consumer product loyalty he has ever had, or likely ever will have, was abruptly terminated. Call me jilted.
Does PepsiCo know about this site?
Yes. PepsiCo visits this site daily.
How did you get the idea for this site?
On the day that I tasted the new formula and figured out what had happened, I came to the computer, opened Notepad, and typed absolutely everything that came to mind for 30 minutes. I'm still mining that initial stream-of-consciousness text file for site ideas.
Is this a for-profit site?
If it is, then I have a rotten business model. The profit margin for NewDietDewIsYucky.com is -100%. I pay for this site out of my pocket, with the money that I would have been spending on Diet Mountain Dew had they not changed the formula. I have a friend who is after me to sell advertising and/or solicit on the site to help offset costs, but that would mean content that wasn't under my complete control, and for now I'm not okay with that. If you want to help me, don't send money; instead send your friends links to content from the site that amuses you. More importantly, do everything under the "What You Can Do" section on the front page!
Then what are you trying to do?
I'm trying to do exactly what I say I'm trying to do on the front page: get the previous Diet Mountain Dew formula restored. I stand down immediately and completely the day that happens.
