Thursday miscellanea #251

  • Had a wonderful Labor Day breakfast with a few Rocket City Bloggers.  If you’re a Tennessee Valley blogger looking to connect with others, this is your group!
  • Such a cool summer, and now the 90s are settling in?  It’s all right, though.  The humidity is low.
  • It is now, at most, slightly less than five days between college football games.  Have I mentioned that I like college football?
  • Had a quesadilla last weekend with Goya Mojo Criollo chicken, sharp cheddar, and one of Aaron’s fresh habaneros, finely chopped.  It was outstanding.  I was more careful with pepper prep this time.
  • Microsoft has purchased Nokia’s handset business for $7.2 billion, which would seem to make the 1020 the last “Nokia Lumia” device.  I’m heartened to see this move.  It’s a strong indicator Microsoft is going to stay in this space.
  • This piece on affordable exotic cars is interesting, but it only makes passing mention of maintenance costs, and they were definitely prohibitive when I idly explored Ferrari 400 ownership one pre-children evening long ago.  A valve adjustment, needed every 5-10K miles, was $2800, and the car had to go to Nashville for it.
  • According to RadarOnline.com, Jack Nicholson has retired from acting, citing memory loss as the cause.  Thank you for a pile of wonderful performances, sir, as well as what I considered a blogworthy dream.
