- I hope that was our last flirtation with a freeze. I’ve extinguished and relit the pilot on the gas logs twice now.
- Gus of Pete’s Famous Hot Dogs will be laid to rest this Saturday at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to the Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral in his memory.
- Nathan’s first aquarium is up, running, and cycled. We’re going shopping for guppies and swordtails tonight. He’s very excited. These are good times, reminding me of my first trip to The Fish Net on 431 in Saks with my dad 30 years ago. I wish Water World in Decatur was still open, because that shop really felt like The Fish Net.
- I’m a little late to this party judging from my Facebook comments on it, but check out this continuous live stream of an eyrie in Iowa. It’s a mom, dad, and their eaglets, the third of which hatched early this morning. (Be warned: it’s really difficult to watch for “only a minute.”)
- The Indy Grand Prix of Alabama is this weekend. We decided to pass on attending this year, but I’m still looking forward to it. I was really excited to see Tony Kanaan finish third at St. Petersburg with less than a week to settle, build relationships with technicians, and so forth.
- I read yesterday that Ohio State is hosting Vanderbilt to open the 2013 season. Hey, the Buckeyes might win another SEC game! ‘Course, dragging the ‘Dores to your house to do it is a tad emasculating, don’t you think guys?
- Happy 62nd birthday, Oates!

But then, wouldn’t it be delish if Vandy manages to win?
I’d love it, but no chance in hell. Vandy has a winning season every 20 years or so. It’s the way of the world.
