I saddled two unpleasant tasks—doing our taxes and cleaning up the study—together today. When I got sick of the taxes, I’d work on throwing stuff away and/or organizing. When I got sick of throwing stuff away and/or organizing, I’d work on the taxes.
It worked well. Got us e-filed, and the study looks habitable again. Part of it is illusion; there is some stuff-it-in-the-closet in play here. But I did attempt to compartmentalize the remaining problems effectively, so that every couple of days I can reach in the closet, grab a problem, and get a little more done, whilst preserving the look of the room.
I’m also looking to replace my desktop computer in the next week or so, and I had to have a clean room for that. Do you do that? I’ve done it for as long as I can remember. I can remember being seven or eight years old and having to have my room absolutely tip-top clean and organized right before Christmas, so that it’d be that way for my new toys. Heh.
Alex, Melissa, and their brood will be here in a little while for dinner. I’m working on a Choc Basement Batch Pale Ale, and feeling fairly accomplished for the day. And hey, the race is tomorrow! Life is good.
