Did my second of four total stints working in the kitchen at church today for Upward basketball.
Upward is one of the largest ministries we have. I signed up this year for the “hardcore” side of the kitchen—the grill and fryer side, not the front counter—and I’m really enjoying it. I expected it would be something I would mostly tolerate, but I’m finding it very satisfying.
I’m delighted to donate a really small amount of time and labor and emerge with such a peaceful and contented feeling. I used to feel borderline guilty about that, wondering whether it was really service in God’s name if it made me feel so good. Now I’m considering that such a feeling may be exactly what God was going for in His disciples. You know?
I hope you’re having a good weekend.

I think you’re spot on, Bo. Why do we sometimes have the mindset that God’s not happy with our service to Him if we’re not miserable while doing it?!
And don’t laugh, but your post title made me think of a recent episode of Glee: Grilled Cheesus Okay, okay — go ahead and laugh. 🙂

Denise, I don’t know, but it’s a pretty common mindset, I think! What’s up with that? (And I did make several grilled cheeses yesterday too!) 🙂
BamaDan, I think we had them one year, but they weren’t very popular. So you didn’t buy enough when you had the chance, man. 🙂
