- I like the number 57. It’s an odd bird. Feels like a prime, but 19 and 3 are happy in it (119, 17, and 7 feel that way too). Good year for cars, as in Bel Air and Thunderbird. I like Heinz 57.
- The Kiss album is the real deal. I’m picking a different favorite every day. If you’ve ever been a fan of the band, you’ll enjoy this record.
- I’m sure I missed this two years ago, but I caught it today hanging off a current story. Apparently Buzz Aldrin said of jilted and, um, erratic astronaut Lisa Nowak: “I think Nowak should be admired for traveling across the country at night and not getting out of her car to put in gas or go to the restroom. It is not excusable, but it is understandable for an achiever to fall into a trap.” Gotcha, man.
- In other astronaut news, Tracy Caldwell is still smokin’ hot.
- Next time Obama or one of his drones tells you something will be paid for by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in some other program, please ask yourself why, if they could do that, they haven’t done it already? Hat tip, smart town hall questioner.
- I have eaten a little bit of crow over at SEC Corner concerning Auburn’s hire of Gene Chizik.
- Owl in a box. I hear it talking, in a Samuel L. Jackson voice, about what it’s going to do to you when it gets out.

“Eating crow” is never easy… Doing it publicly – my hat’s off to you, bro.

Dude, you gotta take yourself to the KISS concert. Dunno if I can stand months of you going on about them, but I think you are destined.
Off topic, U2 show in Atlanta was great. Awesome spectacle by a truly professional band. Irony noted by Amy that they did not play “Pride” in MLK’s city. Oh well, play “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” and act Irish, dammit!
I got here through Google. I had Dr. Susan Kray as well. She’s currently teaching at Indiana State University… just for your info.
Carey: I appreciate it, but don’t give me too many props. I still delivered a reasonable measure of snark. 🙂
BamaDan: I’m good, man. Really. If they were doing what Cheap Trick historically does and going out and playing 80% of the new album, then I’d work a lot harder to get there. But what they’re doing instead is a show–essentially intact–that I’ve already seen three times. Only “Modern Day Delilah” has even appeared in the set to date, and as it’s still being billed as the Alive 35 tour, there’s little reason to expect a big change anytime soon.
Glad you guys had fun at U2. I know that’s a special band for you and Mrs. BD, and glad the timing was such that she could actually enjoy it (a window that’s rapidly closing). Actually I guess I’m surprised “Pride” ever leaves the set list.
Alex: Welcome, and I’m very sorry to hear that. I would have hoped that by now a former protégé would have thrown her down the Death Star reactor shaft to evanesce in a cloud of her own evil. Stay away from her if you can. (Relevant post here.)
That waste of oxygen Mike Shula got Bama to 9-0, as you recall. Don’t be in a rush to pay off your bets early.
