Yes, #AllLivesMatter, as do all voices

We have deep sadness on both sides of the blue line this week.

We all agree that we have work to do. We must engage to curtail and ultimately eliminate this societal crisis.

That engagement does not begin with a president who reliably and extensively politicizes such tragedies, right out of the chute. Possibilities for meaningful engagement are also not enhanced when the knee-jerk reactions of insufferable hand-wringing liberals are to immediately compete to see who can tell white people most annoyingly and righteously how, in their illuminated and Socially Just estimations, they are permitted to behave in the aftermaths of these events.

It upsets me when people die who shouldn’t have, whether they be civilians or police officers. I am worried for our society. We need greater understanding, as informed by facts and as unsullied by politics as possible. That understanding begins with meaningful dialogue.

But if your definition of meaningful dialogue includes raising a finger to wag at me because I’m a white male, then you are excused. Please, go find some way to entertain yourself quietly while the grown-ups are talking.
