Thursday miscellanea #336

  • We had a largely pleasant spring, but it’s over. No more lows in the 60s are currently forecast; no highs in the 80s are forecast after tomorrow.
  • While I still don’t think Formula 1 is as exciting as IndyCar, I’ve learned to enjoy an F1 race far more than I ever thought I would. It’s ridiculously uncompetitive this season, though. Sebastian Vettel got one in early, but now if your name’s not Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg, you seem to have only a slightly better chance of winning a race than I do.
  • My newly-rekindled interest in first-run serial television is on the ropes. The Whispers is rapidly getting too convoluted for me to care, though I may stay with it if Lea stays interested just to spend the time with her. The fourth episode of Wayward Pines was easily the worst episode so far. It was saddled with too much expository baggage. Need a big rebound tonight.
  • Prepackaged Chex Mix is inferior to homemade by any measure, but there’s a particularly sorry thing they do with it. They put the Chex cereals in the mix before they’ve been fortified. So, instead of Chex Mix being somewhat nutritious, it’s just as junky as anything else. How much money could that possibly save?
  • I’ve seen a BMW i3 around here and there lately. Nifty engineering, but not exactly a pretty thing, which seems an odd misstep for BMW. Apparently Tesla is the only company allowed to make attractive electric vehicles.
  • Tried some Heartbreaking Dawns Mauvais Sang this week. It smells like it would melt a hole in the floor. It tastes good and definitely qualifies as a superhot sauce, though I think Mongoose is still a little hotter.
  • Hot Girls Wanted is a documentary about the production of “amateur-pro” pornography that was recommended to me, and now I’m recommending it to you. It’s on Netflix. It’s strictly adult viewing and it will stick with you. I’m disgusted and trying to think about ways to help with the problem.

  1. Hot Girls Wanted keeps coming up on my recommended list, sometimes as the “showcase recommneded” (you know the full screen recommendation that’s shown when netflix first loads up).

I planned on watching it at some point, but I’m a bit annoyed that I might pull up Netflix in front of company (like all of my parents and in laws that are about to be in town) and have a porn documentary be my top pick for all to see.
