Thursday miscellanea #319

  • Some yo-yo thinks there will be a $3.5 billion theme park based on the musical history of Muscle Shoals. Man, that sounds awesome. I hear the roller coaster is powered by unicorn poop.
  • Did you know that Tom Selleck was originally cast as Indiana Jones? Does that work for you? It’s a stretch for me.
  • I put Linux Mint on my six-year-old netbook last week with minimal expectations. I love it. This is the first Linux distribution I’ve actually enjoyed, rather than just tolerated. I use this machine mostly to write on the go. Linux Mint has likely made hardware failure the ultimate determinant of its lifespan.
  • I have multiple, solid recommendations in hand for Fargo, Luther, and House of Cards. But, sheesh, I’m still picking favorite Breaking Bad moments and watching them again. I’ll get there, my friends. I’ll get there. I really screwed up watching Breaking Bad first.
  • Tyren Jones sounds done. Our deep backfield is getting shallower all the time. Still excited about what we have, mind you, but injuries feel like a far graver concern now.
  • When I have Cortana randomizing my entire music collection—1400+ albums—and Stairway to Heaven still comes up, is the end of the world nigh?

  1. Not sure what Jones did… hearing academics, but that’s unsubstantiated at this point. Going into next season, we have Henry, Drake, Scarbrough (new), and Harris (new). We are a couple of injuries away from having a serious depth problem at TB. And keep in mind that the newbies always seem to have problem picking up the protection schemes early on. Probably won’t see either of those guys on 3rd down.

  2. Make it Saturday. Well, read Rocket City Mom tomorrow anyway, but be sure to read it Saturday. Arsenic & Old Spice is moving back to Saturday.

  3. I don’t get this theme park thing. How can anyone take it seriously? What is the point, other than to swindle people RIGHT OUT IN THE OPEN!
