Thursday miscellanea #285

  • Lots of food recalls right now. Ground beef, sprouts, hummus…have a look.
  • Hello, Indy. Good to see you. Weather looks to be a complete non-factor. Let’s have a great race! (Pssssttt…Monaco is that morning too.)
  • Ever seen a guy throw a 40-yard-pass to himself? His coach didn’t believe him, so he did it again on the spot in front of him.
  • It seems Apple may go to a synthetic sapphire screen for its iPhone 6. That sounds like a mistake. Presumably they’re doing it for the scratch resistance, which is exemplary. • Spirit is suing Led Zeppelin, almost 43 years later, for pirating the opening of “Stairway to Heaven.” Click to hear the allegedly ripped-off song and some good analysis. (BoWilliams.com verdict: interesting, but not close enough.)
  • Thought I’d get an Xbox One for Destiny, but I may wait until I need it for Halo 5. It’ll depend on what I can do playing Destiny on a One that I can’t do on a 360. (I did applaud the $100 unbundling of Kinect.)
  • A person I respect a great deal will plant a new church soon. I’m very excited for her, and I’ll be helping her as I can. More specifics soon.
