Thursday miscellanea #243

  • Just paid for the Technical Writing Express.
  • The Rocket City Bloggers chose Schnitzel Ranch for our monthly Bloggle last night.  I had the Zigeunerschnitzel and a pair of Maßkrug (Paulaner Pils, to be exact).  It was a fine meal.  Ask for Michelle.
  • The boys and I started watching Star Trek on Netflix.  We’ll get to Space Seed soon enough, and what they’ve seen already will suddenly make a lot more sense.
  • Tony Kanaan had a great shot to win at Pocono last week and blundered.  He dove under Scott Dixon a quarter of a second late and damaged his front wing passing for the lead, which necessitated a green flag pit stop.  Gather it up and go get ’em at Toronto, man.  Hang in there.
  • Both of my cordless mice (home, work) are crapping out.  All fine except that both wheels are dying.  I’ve gotten reasonable lives from each of them, but I’m still finding it amazing how much my mouse has to do with my daily quality of life.
  • Lea said she wanted to see The Lone Ranger as a family, and that sounded great to me until the numerous abysmal reviews started rolling in.  Apparently no one likes it.  We’ll see.  We may go anyway.
  • I miss you so much, Oliver.  I’ve moved some distance from my extreme tenderness and am settling into a kind of numbness now, but man, you got in my soul.  As much as I wish I could get one more hug, mostly I’m glad you’re not hurting anymore.
  • Mom would have been 66 today.

  1. First off…NEVER SAY OUTLOUD “I just paid my car off.” It will HEAR you and immediately something will fail.

Also…I know what you’re saying about Oliver. I see Baby out of the corner of my eye all the damn time.

  2. My affection for the car is limited; very applianceish. First time I’ve ever really had that relationship with one. It’s liberating, in a way.

Marianne, I’m amazed and at least somewhat appalled at how much of my heart that little guy carved out. Oliver is the first animal who’s ever affected me this deeply.
