- Some weeks my Thursday miscellanea posts are difficult to keep free of politics. It’s not hard this week.
- Biggest “who cares” headline of the week: “Sandusky upset over Penn State sanctions”
- Coaches’ poll came out today. Top ten is LSU, Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Oregon, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina, and Arkansas. Oklahoma State gets the least respect, finishing last year at #3 and debuting this year at #19.
- Stem & Stein has bombers now! I see some fun beer shopping in my immediate future.
- One of the last recurring complaints David E. Davis Jr. had before he died was that Cadillac was clearly being run by people who hated Cadillacs. They were building capable and exciting cars, but nothing epitomizing American-style luxury besides the Escalade, which was a truck. Well, I saw a Cadillac XTS in the metal for the first time Tuesday night, and I think this is one of which Mr. Davis would have approved.
- I bought and cooked some chorizo at home for the first time recently. It was much too heavily seasoned, and not nearly as tasty as what I’ve had in restaurants. I’ll have to get smarter about how to buy it. What I bought had synthetic (inedible) casings, which I’ve since learned are typical of the cheapest products.
- Snoop Dogg is Snoop Lion now. He believes he’s Bob Marley reincarnated, and he’s going to do a reggae album. Someone get him a cold cloth, please?
