Thursday miscellanea #194

  • Thank you, Andy Griffith.  RIP.
  • One of the things I did with last weekend’s extreme heat was finish the Hunger Games trilogy.  I enjoyed Catching Fire and Mockingjay, but the first book is the only great one.
  • I took today and tomorrow off.  We had considered going back to the aquarium today, but all of the racket about this maybe being the most heavily traveled holiday weekend ever gave me pause.
  • Set foot in the Madison Wal-Mart yesterday, which was my first time in one since July 29, 2010.  I didn’t spend any money, though.
  • Survivors are the coolest of all.  Check out this unrestored 1928 Mercedes-Benz, recently rediscovered after sitting in a garage for the past 60 years.
  • Microsoft plans to price an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro at $40 through the end of January.  That’s pretty cool.
  • Going to see Prometheus again tomorrow—this time in 3D.
