- All set for the solar storm today?
- I have another post up on Tennessee Valley Moms Network. I’ll shoot for every week or ten days over there.
- Bears are using tools. It’s all over. Fellow human beings, we had a good run.
- The iPad 3 is here! (Except, just call it the iPad, apparently.) It has a better display, a faster processor, and 4G connectivity. It’s also still priced at twice what I’d pay for one, so I’ll soldier resignedly on as one of the unwashed. (Sheesh, being Apple-free is getting to be a fairly contrary act, isn’t it?)
- When I consider it, I’m still surprised at some of the stark differences in wildlife between here and where I grew up in Anniston, which is only 100 miles or so away. For example, every spring and summer Anniston was covered up with the juvenile color morph of lubber grasshoppers. Never seen the first one here. I see wading birds all the time here. I can’t remember ever seeing an egret or heron there.
- New habits, temporary and maybe not so temporary, are going well. I miss beer—this is day 16 of Lent—but my waistline doesn’t! This is day 18 without caffeine, and I think I’ve been fully recovered for about four days now (no headaches and so forth). Wow, do I ever still splat! when it’s time to go to bed, though.
- No freeze forecast all the way through next week. Might we be done? Wow, the bugs are going to be awful.

Didn’t we call those lubbers “Texas Grasshoppers?” Do you have an expense account at work? If so, any chance they would reimburse for an iPad? Mine did.
Dave, I do remember that, now that you mention it! Man, it’s weird though. I’ve never seen a single one here in 26 years.
I imagine a physician can more easily justify such as work-related than a technical writer can.
