Thursday miscellanea #143

  • Did you see this catch?
  • I have my doubts sometimes about the authenticity of Damn You, AutoCorrect!, but it is reliably good for a giggle.
  • I was reading yesterday that the Birmingham Airport Authority captured and killed about 250 Canada geese last week to eliminate them as a threat to planes.  That got me poking around and interested in the geese themselves, which are now the most common waterfowl in North America.  The proliferation of safe artificial ponds—think golf courses and subdivisions—is a primary factor.
  • Google+!  Yawn.  I’m love-hate with Facebook most of the time.  Tough for me to get excited about Google’s take.  (I’m sure it’s really different, better thought out, blah blah blah.)
  • Even the Prius is getting bigger-better-faster-more disease.  Meet the Prius v (pronounce that Prius Vee, not Prius Five).
  • Last Sunday at our cookout, one of my churchmates offered me some Danish remoulade to try on my hot dog.  Now I think I have a pretty adventurous and accommodating palate, particularly for just some old Alabama boy.  But let’s just say my favorite export from Denmark remains Lego.
  • I hear Cars 2 is as funny as the original, but not as sweet.  We’ll find out maybe next weekend.

  1. This has nothing to do with today’s post, but I just saw the rotating quote at the top of the page just now was: I wish eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts made you closer to God. – Nathan Williams – Is that your son or my buddy Nathan the caveman?
