Thursday miscellanea #135

  • Wow, was it really 37º last night?
  • Lea’s at a PTO meeting at a school that finally has power.  The boys are headed back in the morning.  What an obliterated calendar they face.  (This latest hiatus was six days; remember all the snow besides?)
  • Several of my friends responded magnificently yesterday and today to my requests for relief supplies at Good Shepherd.  Thank you so much for these blessings, folks.  We are putting these things directly into the hands of people who are either displaced or have lost their homes completely, and that’s just as good as it gets.
  • Locals, I know the lights are back on nearly everywhere, but realize that the power grid could still be easily overwhelmed.  We are not operating at anything near full capacity, and I suspect that if this were mid-July and not early May, the power wouldn’t even be restored yet.  Please be conscientious.
  • Last I heard, clan BamaDan was enamored enough of their rental place that they’re thinking of replicating it when they rebuild.  After saying one more time how thankful I am that they’re all still here, I’ll add that I’m so thankful they were able to get settled (into this interim part of their lives, anyway) so quickly.
  • We were set to watch the race in Sao Paulo on Sunday, and Danica and TK were out on the first lap.  “Well, I’ve lost all interest in this,” Nathan crassly declared.  (Where does he get such an attitude?  Heh.)  I stayed with it until it was red-flagged and postponed for torrential rain, and then promptly missed the continuation the next morning.  Will Power won.  Yawn.  Don’t get to feeling too ensconced at the top of the standings, buddy.  The ovals are finally here.
  • I’ve now watched the first two Terminator movies on consecutive evenings as wind-down material.  You know, T2 was such a spectacle that it’s easy to forget how rock-solid the first film is.  These are prime examples of movies I wish the boys were old enough for.  Won’t be long, and then I’ll wonder where the time went.

  1. I love Terminator, the first. It’s one of my all-time favorite movies. And, you are right, the boys will grow up much, much too fast. In fact, I had an exchange with mine this afternoon about inappropriate media. It was pretty funny.
