Snaps of youth, and Life of Pi

Lea is enjoying a well-deserved girls’ night out tonight, so I had Upward basketball practice duty for both boys.

On the way back, a child who obviously has no experience with car accidents steadily held her Civic just about five feet off the rear bumper of the Technical Writing Express, before the road grew a lane and she zoomed around me.

That’ll show me.  Good luck, young lady.

Then, at the grocery store, a younger child who obviously has no experience with slipping on ice merrily skipped through the parking lot, despite the admonishment of his father not to do so.

He’ll understand the first time it happens.  Good luck, my son.

So I took Life of Pi with me to basketball practice, and wound up swallowing about a third of it.  No way I won’t finish it this weekend.  Saintseester and I will finally get to talk about it.  Moreover, it’s hitting my head and heart just right.  It’s easy to read, but stimulating; it’s stimulating, but soothing.

I hope you have a good weekend.
