Thursday miscellanea #87

I didn’t have much exposure to Lena Horne, but I enjoyed what I saw and heard, and her story is captivating and important. RIP.
So BP dropped the 100-ton hat, and as I type they’re positioning the 2-ton one, and trying to prevent what happened with ice and what-not the first time. Unless y’all think a hurricane would be helpful, please get this worked out soon.

I’ll hit five months next week. It hasn’t fallen quite to effortless, but there are days I don’t think about it at all.
“Ride Captain Ride,” “Never Been Any Reason,” and “Stuck in the Middle with You” go together as a trio for me. Their respective releases are within a few years of one another, but other than that, any association seems totally arbitrary. No idea why I group them.
Speaking of “Never Been Any Reason,” I finally watched all of Dazed and Confused earlier this week. Parker Posey as a monstrous bitch titillates me in ways best not carefully analyzed. (See also Carrie-Anne Moss in Memento.)
South Carolina governor Mark Sanford met with his lover this past weekend. Isn’t that sweet?
