Obama did a politically masterful thing making her secretary of state. Friends close and enemies closer, and all that. But, then he started playing like the amateur he is. Instead of fostering a meaningful relationship with her–one that includes actually permitting her to perform the job duties–he pretends she doesn’t exist.
So instead of enjoying the strength of a powerful ally, Obama is (re-)cultivating a fearsome enemy, seething with quiet hatred at her marginalization. At this rate, I think she’ll run again in ’12.
Not to mention getting her out of the senate and out of debates.
