Presenting the 13,979th day of my life

My dog woke me up at 4 barking at my next-door neighbor returning from a bass-fishing tournament, but the white noise of the window fan and the cool air ensured a speedy return to slumber.

Up.  Cheerios.  Coffee.  Church.

We’re having a pocket of essentially perfect weather right now (sunny, highs in the low 80s, lows in the upper 50s, low humidity).  It’s quite odd for mid-July ’round these parts—generally this time of year walking outside is like entering the bottom of a bowl of chili—but we’ll take it.  The boys spent most of this afternoon in the backyard.

I played with my blog for a couple of hours—different themes, layouts, and such—but wound up (mostly) staying with what I had.  In the end I updated my flag graphic, moved a few things around, and deleted a few sidebar items.  It feels cleaner and less scattered to me now.  I hope you agree.

I grilled some Stubb’s-marinated ribeyes tonight.  I also made a big salad, half of which I’m taking to work for lunch tomorrow.  There is just no beating fresh, home-grown tomatoes.  They’re like candy.  Thank you, Lea.

My extremely poor record over the years hasn’t inspired me to make much blog racket about it, but I’m into day nine of my latest NoSuckButt attempt.  It’s going fine.  I’m awfully weary of it being a concern in my life.  Maybe this is it.  My head seems to be in the right place.

I’m starting Band of Brothers on Blu-ray tonight.

I hope my case-back wrench arrives tomorrow.

I hope you had a good weekend.

  1. BoB is awesome! Once I started watching I couldn’t stop until I had watched every episode back to back. If you are yet to see “Generation Kill”, it is equally good!

  2. Lee, Tommy: I enjoyed the first episode. Depending on how the narrative structure develops, I may have trouble telling people apart. Sometimes I have a hard time with a bunch of demographically similar characters. The Departed was really difficult for me. 🙂
