Williamsburg

Nathan and I got up at 4:00 this morning to come visit my sister in Williamsburg.  (Well, actually everybody got up at 4:00 this morning, because it’s a long walk to the airport.  Thanks, Mommy.  We owe you one.)  Nathan enjoyed his first airplane ride:

We flew into Norfolk, so we did some exploring there today.  The USS Wisconsin is on display at the National Maritime Center there, complete with veteran crew members providing information.  One fellow showed us a spectacular photograph he took in Korea in 1953 of the sea coming over the front.

After we took a nap, Aunt Jenny made us a marvelous pasta dinner.  In and around that, Nathan is enjoying playing with some of Uncle Russ’s toys.  (Russ says blackjack lessons are tomorrow, and poker is Tuesday.)

Lea and I came up here on vacation right after we got married, and we had a wonderful time exploring Colonial Williamsburg.  I’m looking forward to showing Nathan, as well as showing him the ships at Jamestown (which I’m thinking might be his favorite part).

And of course, we don’t see Jenny and Russ nearly as much since they moved up here from Birmingham, and it’s pleasant to have unhurried time with them.

  1. I’m glad you are having a good time but I miss you two. The house is MUCH quieter right now. We’re doing fine and kept busy today (church, nap, and a trip to grandma’s house) but Aaron is a lot more subdued without his partner in crime… I guess I should be thankful for that, though.

Tell Uncle Russ if he’s going to teach Nathan to gamble to make sure to teach him when to walk away, too…

  2. We had a WONDERFUL time in Williamsburg this past summer (had Seester acquainted us before then? If not, I blogged the whole vacation – go to June, 2007 to see the posts).

Have a blast, and keep blogging about it!
