One Republican candidate who would have my vote

No, not Giuliani. There’s a lot to like about the guy, but I just don’t think I could. He’s for way too much gun control, and he pulls up disappointingly soon on gay marriage.

No, I’m talking about Ron Paul, the taxpayer’s best friend and a true defender of liberty. Looks like he’s running for president in 2008, and absent something truly extraordinary and wholly unexpected, he will have my support.

Ron Paul’s Freedom Principles:

  • Rights belong to individuals, not groups.
  • Property should be owned by people, not government.
  • All voluntary associations should be permissible — economic and social.
  • The government’s monetary role is to maintain the integrity of the monetary unit, not participate in fraud.
  • Government exists to protect liberty, not to redistribute wealth or to grant special privileges.
  • The lives and actions of people are their own responsibility, not the government’s.
