Last year I put together a list of my favorite pop songs of the 1980s. I kept a journal for months. Every time a song popped in my head, I’d write it down. After I had a sizable list, I’d start ranking them as I recorded them, playing an eye doctor “better or worse” game with them. When the list was ready, I published them gradually on my web page, with announcements and teasers on alt.culture.us.1980s. It was a lot of fun.
Are there changes I would make now? Haven’t thought about it much, but probably. It’s a “snapshot in time.” Still, it’s fun to look back over it, rediscovering what I thought and wrote. Check it out here if you’re interested.
